What is Tiny Town?

Tiny Town transforms Canterbury spaces into a child-sized village with 10 unique play sections, including a grocery store, vet clinic, emergency services, café, and a Kiwi outdoors section inspired by New Zealand’s landscapes. Crafted with premium, eco-friendly wooden toys and featuring touches of te reo Māori in our illustrated town, these safe, sensory-rich zones are tailored for tamariki. Our tiny team delivers this one of a kind experience from Christchurch to the wider Canterbury region, fostering creativity, learning, and connection. With the ability to change artwork and toys, over time expect new areas, holiday themes and some collaboration spaces!

Our Business Pillars: Play, Learn, Connect

Tiny Town is built on three core pillars:

  • Play: Play should spark creativity, learning and joy in a safe environment. We aim to provide this through an experience that can’t be found anywhere else. Public play dates will be announced on a regular basis, rotating through great venues near you.

  • Learn: Each zone supports developmental growth, enhancing language, motor skills, and problem-solving through hands-on exploration for young learners.

  • Connect: By reducing chairs and limiting tickets at venues, we encourage parents to join in role-play, sharing moments that strengthen family bonds and link the broader community.
Role play at Tiny Town offers tamariki key developmental benefits:

Benefits of role-play for your child

  • Creativity and imagination: Pretending to be a firefighter or vet sparks endless scenarios, boosting creative thinking.

  • Social skills: Interacting in the café or vet clinic teaches sharing, cooperation, and communication.

  • Language development: Role-play scenarios, like running a shop, expand vocabulary and storytelling.

  • Emotional growth: Acting out roles helps tamariki process emotions, build empathy, and gain confidence.

  • Motor skills: Handling wooden toys and navigating play zones enhances fine and gross motor development. Ride on toys are also available at every session.
